As students in Cara Community Special School move into the post-primary years, they begin to follow the Junior Cycle, which is part of the national curriculum for all post-primary schools in Ireland.

At Cara CSS, our students follow either the Level 1 Learning Programme (L1LP) or the Level 2 Learning Programme (L2LP), depending on their individual needs, abilities, and learning profiles.

These programmes are designed specifically for students with complex needs or intellectual disabilities, and focus on developing key life skills, functional literacy and numeracy, independence, and personal growth. The learning is hands-on, meaningful, and practical, and is assessed in an inclusive, student-friendly way.
