Transition Programmes
The Staff at Cara Community Special School under the leadership of the Principal will be supporting pupils, students and parents/guardians as they prepare for Transition to Cara Community Special School.
As part of the transition programme Cara CSS will engage in some/all of the following activities:
- 1.
- Reading and analysis of all reports and Student Support Files/Individual Education Plans
- 2.
- Initial Meeting with Parents/Guardians
- 3.
- Meetings with supporting agencies including Department of Education National Educational Psychological Services (NEPS), the National Council for Special Education (NCSE), TESS TUSLA and/or HSE CDNT teams
- 4.
- Visits to current educational settings when and where appropriate
- 5.
- Discussions with parents/guardians regarding Intimate Care Needs and/or Administration of Medicines and completion of the necessary documentation included in such policies
- 6.
- Arrangements for transfer of any relevant resources e.g specialised chairs etc
- 7.
- Meeting with the pupil/student and his/her parents/guardians and tour of the school building
- 8.
- Bringing the following links to appropriate resources to the attention of parents/guardians
- Resources to support transition back to school – National Council for Special Education – Working to deliver a better special education service (ncse.ie)
- 9.
- Arrangements for any other meetings that all partners deem appropriate to support the pupil/student in their Transition to Cara CSS journey
